Sewer & Septic System Inspections
The most critical components of a home are often the ones you cannot see. A malfunctioning waste management system can lead to catastrophic property damage and thousands of dollars in unforeseen repair costs. At Adkins Home Inspection, we provide high-tech diagnostic evaluations of sewer lines and septic systems across Ohio to ensure your home’s waste disposal is functional and compliant.
Sewer Scope Inspection: Seeing What’s Underground
Standard home inspections do not cover the interior of the main sewer line. Using advanced fiber-optic camera technology, we perform a “Sewer Scope” to examine the pipe from the house to the city main or septic tank.
Root Intrusion: Identifying tree roots that have breached pipe joints, causing recurring clogs.
Structural Failures: Detecting “bellies” (low spots), offset joints, or collapsed sections in older clay or cast-iron pipes.
Debris & Blockages: Locating grease buildup or foreign objects that restrict flow.
Pipe Material Integrity: Evaluating the condition of modern PVC vs. legacy Orangeburg or concrete piping.
Septic System Evaluation
For properties not connected to a municipal sewer, the septic system is the heart of the home’s infrastructure. Our technical evaluation focuses on the three core components of the system:
The Septic Tank: We check for structural cracks, baffle integrity, and current sludge/scum levels to determine if pumping is required.
The Distribution Box (D-Box): We inspect the D-box to ensure effluent is being distributed evenly to the absorption area.
The Absorption Field (Leach Field): We perform a visual “stress test” and probe the soil to check for ponding, odors, or hydraulic failure.
